about the crowing crone
“The word Crone… has come to mean a crowning inner achievement of the third phase of life. Women can now more confidently wear their crowns unabashedly, and coincidentally, we can, like our ancient grandmothers, have Crows as our companions.”
Why the Crone?
because… she is us . we are her.
NOT that evil, ugly hag too many online searches still conjure! This is today’s Crone — our archetype for feminine liberation, wisdom, power, and authenticity. tha
Crones are smart, sassy, spirited women in their third stage of life. Wise, creative, and independent, they (WE) are tenacious-yet-gracious (not “fake-cious”). And we dearly support & value family and friends without sacrificing our self-worth, voice, or visibility.
Today’s Crone carries our grandmothers’ Rosie the Riveter spirit, which sprouted so many feminist firsts.
She trusts her sage expertise and insights over blanket judgments or popular trends, and…
Promotes authenticity & personal style over “only youth is beautiful” obsessions.
Speaks uncomfortable truths & asks deep questions.
Supports equality & personal choice as the pathway to fulfilling lives.
Our Crone believes it’s never too late for women to pursue their passions! We WILL NOT go silently or invisibly into the night. And in the golden light of the waning moon, we illuminate individuality & independence for maidens and mothers who follow.
Why the Crow?
because… crows reflect & inspire our spirit
NOT just the squawking pest or grim omen people once believed! Science has crowned the crow — the winged epitomy of cleverness, resilience, and fierce devotion.
These sharp, “caw-cative” creatures thrive as corvid beings. Loyal to their flocks, these brainiacs devotedly nurture their young and fearlessly voice their visions & opinions — even when it ruffles feathers or unsettles the status quo.
Historically, Crows and their larger, Raven relative, have always coveted Crones. But the more social Crows are Crones’ true twin architypes. They carry the same unapologetic spirit, undeniable wise ways, and…
Serve as loyal Crow-community leaders & truth tellers.
Speak their mind boldly, even when others say Shhh!
Devote themselves to keeping the flock strong and passing wisdom to the next generation.
Like Crones, Crows demonstrate the dual role of protector and provocateur. Loyal, loud, and proud, they’re not afraid to share their shiny collections,
caw out injustices, and commit to their meaningful
more in life.

Within mythological & spiritual traditions, the Crone is among the Triple Goddess
life archetypes represented by the three phases of the moon. The Crone,
associated with the waning moon, represents the later stages of life,
wisdom, transformation, and the power of inner reflection.
